The mission of American Red Cross Disaster Services is to ensure nationwide disaster planning, preparedness, community disaster education, mitigation, and response that will provide the American people with quality services delivered in a uniform, consistent, and responsive manner.

 

Each year the Greater Albemarle Area Chapter Area Chapter of the American Red Cross responds to disasters that affect the community we serve, including an average of 50 house or apartment fires.

 

The chapter also responds in the event of major disasters such as tornados, hurricanes, and other natural or man-made disasters. We assist disaster victims in meeting their emergency needs to include shelter, food, clothing and emotional support.

 

All disaster assistance is FREE and an outright gift made possible by the donations of time and resources from the American people.
